Photo Group Notes for 05/21/2023
« on: May 21, 2023, 04:42:44 PM »
Hello All,
Here are my Notes from the SLO Bytes Photo Group of 05/21/2023
TOPIC: Lines

Ralph Sutter opened the meeting with images of row crops, orchards, slatted doors and string trimmer line.

Alan Raul shot ALL his images with a Sony 35mm F2.8 lens. These included images from in and around the Guadalupe, Grover Beach and San Luis Obispo train stations. In addition, he shot a few from the Guadalupe fields, Shell Beach and the 911 World Trade Center memorial located at the San Luis Obispo Fire Station #1. https://www.kcbx.org/community/2015-09-10/new-central-coast-9-11-memorial-lets-you-touch-history

Alan showed still images extracted from videos from his new dash cam and the Avila Beach Polar Bear Plunge using Adobe Photoshop.
He got the idea from the Tim Gray article entitled "Extracting a Photo from Video." https://asktimgrey.com/2023/05/02/extracting-a-photo-from-video/ He used VLC to convert the .MOV file shot with the iPhone to a MP4. You can also extract a still image from Adobe Premier Elements and DaVinci Resolve.

Kaye Raul, having figured out the issue that kept her from sharing photos at the April meeting, shared them today. They included crops and fields. Apropos of this month's topic, she presented a Lightroom slide show complete with music. Most notable was her image of the flooded Oceano campground. Kaye used Adobe's tools to erase distracting items and enhance the visual impact

Stanford Brown found lines in stairways, roads, pathways and power transmission lines

John Waller visited Lopez Lake to show the changes brought by the heavy Spring rains

Connie Sutter focused on lines created by pine needles and sedimentation lines in rock

Linda Styerwalt traced lines in flooring, wainscotting, doors and bakers' racks

The next meeting will take place on June 11th 2023 beginning at 2:00 pm via Zoom The topic will be Boats

The meeting schedule for the remainder of 2023 is as follows
