Counter Intuitive Pricing Model
« on: May 15, 2023, 11:40:44 AM »
Hello All,
I recently shopped on-line for sprinkler heads.  I found what I was looking for at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004S1TY
If I bought one sprinkler head, the price was $1.67 per unit.
If I bought two, the price was $9.59; That's $4.80 per unit.
If I bought three, the price was $11.24/$3.74 per unit.
If I bought five, the price was $15.39/$3.08 per unit.
If I bought ten, the price was $27.45/$2.75 per unit.
If I bought twenty, the price was $51.20/$2.56 per unit.

My solution was to buy one at $1.67, then buy another at $1.67 and buy a third unit at $1.67
I don't understand the logic behind this pricing model but suspect that it's tied to an irrational shipping rate structure.
