Lost Password for Win 10
« on: September 22, 2018, 12:51:37 PM »
Hi, The Win 10 rescue disc has two options to reinstall Win 10...Just
Remove My Files and Fully Clean the Drive. I do not know the password.
Will either or both of these allow me to enter a new password?  Thanks,
I am helping a friend who is trying to use his deceased son's HP
laptop.  Stanford  PS. l had a thumbdrive with the Win 10 install on it
but it is at least temporarily misplaced. I have read that the Win 10
password can not be bypassed, that Win 10 must be re-installed.

I assume you have recovered all the files from his son.

I would make a complete backup of the drive before working on it. You always want to have a point to return to.

I can only "assume" you will be able to create a new user/password. If you do a clean install then the answer is yes. Otherwise I'm not sure.

If the computer previously had Windows 10 then it will be automatically activated.

Did you find the Windows 10 USB install drive I created for you? It will be time to create a new one since Windows 10 will have a new update in October.
