The topic for the November 19th meeting was Architecture

Ralph Sutter began the image show and tell with a slide show of structures seen on his recent visit to China. They included images from Beijing, Shanghai, Pudong, Hangzhou, Westlake and Yellow Mountain.

Bob Grover followed sharing shots of impressive buildings seen locally and in Mexico City, Yucatan, Machu Picchu and several European cities. These were part of a more ambitious project that Bob is working on. That project will chronicle the many sites that he visited throughout his life.

Alan Raul stayed local. He offered a video tour of the new hotel in Pismo Beach, The Inn at the Pier, showing how he enhanced images via Aurora HDR; a software image editing program. Alan added perspective with a quadcopter flyover of the area.

Monica Tarzier offered images of garden structures seen at her San Luis Obispo back yard.

John Waller brought varied architectural images as seen in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Yosemite, Bodie and other California locales

Don Jones visited historical buildings found at the Price Street Park near Pismo Beach.

Connie Sutter also offered images from China, specifically Shanghai, Pudong, Westlake and Hangzhou.

Our final meeting of the year will take place on December 10th.  The topic is Enclosed Spaces.  Members are encouraged to bring images of spaces found within other spaces.

Hello All,
Recently, I replaced the hard drive on my laptop with a larger drive.
For the record, I backed up the first hard drive using Acronis True Image and then restored it to the larger drive
The move was successful until I opened Microsoft Outlook 365.
That program advised that I was running an outdated version of the .ost file asking me to close Outlook and delete the .ost file
Unfortunately, Outlook offered no clue as to where that file was located or how to delete it.

I searched on-line for guidance.  Finding nothing useful, I tried my own hand at solving the problem.

I have posted on YouTube the steps that I took to successfully delete the Outlook 2016 .ost file and have Outlook recreate a current version.

Hello All,

I am running Windows 10 Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299 (aka Fall Creators Update) on all my Windows computers.
Doing so was particularly challenging for my HP ProBook 640 G1 laptop.  I purchased the machine from WOOT several months ago.
It is a refurbished unit that came with Windows 10 Pro installed.

I created an additional partition on the solid state hard drive and installed Ubuntu 17.10 in that partition.
When I turn on the machine, it gives me the option of booting into Windows (the default) or Ubuntu.
Initially, I was able to update/upgrade Windows 10 normally.  However, the computer repeatedly failed
to update beyond version 1607 (Anniversary Update) despite reassurances from the update dialogue that
my computer was capable of being upgraded.  Updates failed with a cryptic message that I had to restart my computer
to complete the update.  No amount of restarting or whispering Redmond backwards got behind that obstacle.

When all else failed, I told the computer to Reset This PC, opting to keep the data files that I had created but removing all of the programs that I had installed.

It was a several step process.  First I had to update the computer to the latest version of the original operating system.  When that succeeded, I kept updating until I finally ended
up with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

I recently purchased a TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N Mini Router.  It is configurable in various modes
  Standard Router
  Hotspot Router
  Repeater
  Client
  Access Point
I found the Quick Installation Guide did a good job of explaining the differences between these modes and showing how to enable each one.

I plan to use the device as an access point, bringing wireless to an area of my home that currently has erratic WiFi coverage.  I'll connect it to a nearby Ethernet cable and then use the WiFi signal for local WiFi devices in that area.

I recently created a script that, when run from a terminal, automatically installs certain programs in Ubuntu or Ubuntu-like systems.

For a line by line annotated version, see https://www.fullbean.com/computer/linux/bashscripting.docx.
  With the exception of the first line, #!/bin/bash, the lines beginning with # are comments.  They are intended to explain what is going to happen as the script runs.  When it executes, the script ignores them.

If you plan to try template.txt out, rename it template without the .txt extension
and insert it in the home directory of your Ubuntu system.  Read the embedded comments if you choose to install it in the /bin directory of your system's root
