Privacy - When discussing privacy, the argument "I have nothing to hide" keeps coming up. This can be debunked with two main arguments: you don't KNOW what you have to hide; and you SHOULD have something to hide. But there is a third point: it isn't ABOUT having something to hide - privacy is a basic human need.

Chrome Is Scanning Files on Your Computer, and People Are Freaking Out

Some cybersecurity experts and regular users were surprised to learn about a Chrome tool that scans Windows computers for malware. But there’s no reason to freak out about it.

I found this article to be quite interesting. I wonder if this is true with portable Chrome which I use on occasion?

« on: March 15, 2018, 08:25:36 AM »
Since Ubuntu 18.04 is a LTS it will switch back to Xorg. It will be released at the end of April. Ubuntu was just testing Wayland on 17.10.

I am currently running Ubuntu Mate 17.10.1 on my laptop. I was going to try Ralph's snap suggestion and found that LibreOffice had already automatically been updated to the latest version.

The April SLOLUG topic will be Snaps.

Snaps are containerized software packages that are simple to create and install. They auto-update and are safe to run. And because they bundle their dependencies, they work on all major Linux systems without modification.

A CD/DVD burning program I have used in Windows for years is CDBurnerXP. Don't let the XP scare you. It works well in Windows 10.
