Title: Ubuntu Server Doesn't Appear in Windows Workgroup - Fixed
Post by: rsutter on September 25, 2022, 09:36:13 AM
Hello All,
On my local network, I have a Ubuntu server that I call Thinkserver.
I also have a Synology server running on the same LAN.
The server running Synology shows up in the Windows 11 Workgroup folder. Thinkserver does not.

Until I solved that problem, I couldn't access Thinkserver.
The solution that I found was to open(Windows 11)  File Explorer and in the address bar type \\Thinkserver
When I pressed Enter, the address bar then showed Network > thinkserver
Having done so, I gained complete access to the server
I got the same results if I typed \\THINKSERVER or \\10.0.0.61, the IP address

Now, when I go to the Workgroup folder, Thinkserver appears

I created an illustrated explanation of this process on my personal website at
https://www.fullbean.com/tutorials/no-ubuntu-server.html
