I have created a chronological history of my digital camera purchases over the last 29 years. It's amazing how far we have come in digital camera technology.

This presentation was created in Apple's Keynote program and exported to other formats.

Take Control of Backing Up Your Mac. The data on every Mac should be backed up to protect it against theft, software bugs, human error, and other problems. But there are many ways to back up data?some much better than others. Is Time Machine really enough? What about bootable duplicates, online backup services, and third-party backup tools? And how exactly would you go about restoring data if disaster struck? In this presentation, Joe explores the options available and helps you find a strategy that balances data safety, ease of use, and cost.

The Computer Backup, Your Lifeline in Case of Digital Emergency. We hear about data breaches, ransomware attacks, and the catastrophic destruction of businesses and homes every day. But untold is the loss of information like digital documents, pictures, and information. In today's world, where we live in digital times, who have all their "e-data" property in a safe place?

In his presentation, we will explain the different technologies, media, and methods you need to succeed! He will discuss several key factors for a worry-free, data-retaining world!

3/20/24 ? Backing up in the Linux world. Join us on March 20 as we prepare for World Backup Day on the 31st. We'll look at several backup plans, from the simple to a more complete method. We hope you come away with some suggested tools for Linux backups and select what you think will work for you. AND start backing up your Linux machines! As Judy pointed out last week, it's not "IF," it's "WHEN."

Today's panel of presenters will include none of the usual Learning Linux team members. Alan German, Les Larkin, Stew Bottorf, Joel Ewing, and Frances Chao will give presentations on what they use to back up. There will be a short time after each presentation for specific questions (not comments) for the presenter. And, in our usual Open Mic Q&A, you can share any other backup plans attendees might want to consider, along with any additional comments you have about backups.

General Discussion / Dewalt Add-on to Battery Pack for USB Charging and an Alternative
« Last post by rsutter on February 26, 2024, 11:50:55 AM »
Hello All,
The Dewalt DCB090 is a device that is attached to a Dewalt 20 volt battery.  This add-on is essentially a battery pack.  It has two USB-A ports and allows the user to charge small electronic devices.  The unit itself is charged by attaching it to a Dewalt 20 volt battery that is in turn plugged in to the Dewalt battery charger.  Once charged, the add on is disconnected.  Fully charged, it holds a 6 Ah charge.  I carried it with me on a 5 day kayaking trip to the San Juan Islands and used it to recharge cell phones and hand-held GPS units.

Buy it at https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-20-Volt-Max-Power-Source-Adapter/50102394 for $47.98
Download the manual from https://www.dewalt.com/GLOBALBOM/QU/DCB090/1/Instruction_Manual/EN/N388185_DCB090.pdf
It appears that Dewalt is no longer manufacturing the unit

In researching, I found a much less expensive unit.  It is simply a USB adapter.  You attach it to a charged battery pack and then pack both of them for recharging electronic devices in the field.  See https://www.amazon.com/Fybemax-Charger-Adapter-Battery-Charging/dp/B0CMX4MBGM Two pack for $17.99.
I have no experience with this product and can offer no recommendation for it.
